A Stalybridge fashion shop has been picked to take part in the national ‘Small Business Saturday’ campaign.Magpie’s Nest specialises in unique fashion items such as jewellery, bags, purses and scarves at affordable prices. The Stalybridge shop, named ‘start-up business of the year’ at this year’s Pride of Tameside Business Awards, has been chosen to feature in the annual campaign which every year chooses just 100 traders to champion across the UK.
Liz Attenborough said,
“I love what I do,” “The shop is really hard work and seriously long hours but it’s totally worth the effort.
“Being your own boss, making an idea and a vision into a reality is a real buzz.
“I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been selected as one of the 100 businesses being featured. Being showcased is a great recognition of the love, sweat and tears that have gone into this business.
“Hopefully the new profile will encourage new shoppers into the Nest, and help let people know it’s not all doom and gloom on the high street – there are a few hidden treasures.”
Small Business Saturday, on December 6, aims to highlight the country’s best independent traders and encourage consumers to ‘shop local.’
On the day Liz will be in Tesco handing out free raffle tickets and discounts in a bid to attract new customers to her Armentieres Square shop.
She added: “Our product ranges include ladies scarves, leather bags and purses from British companies, Galleria umbrellas, designer and local handmade jewellery as well as costume.
“We take a lot of pride in the stock we carry, sourcing unusual and quirky items – the type of product you won’t find in large department stores and supermarkets.
“We aim to give all our customers an excellent and memorable shopping experience regardless of spending power"
