Huddersfield Canal in Stalybridge drained to inches

Parts of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in Stalybridge have been drained down to just inches of water after paddles and gates on locks had been left open.
A section of canal which runs behind Bayley Street, between the locks at Whitelands Road and Caroline Street, was the worse effected.
A spokesman from the canal and river trust said: “We have had reports that the water is running low between locks three and four on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
“We are aware of the situation and it is being dealt with.”
