*The first Stalybridge Handmade Market of 2015 took place last Saturday
21st February at it's usual venue the Civic Hall!  The doors opened at 10am
and the Civic Mayor of Tameside was in attendance to conduct the official

opening.  There were over 50 handmade craft and food stalls in the market
hall and despite the weather the hall soon started to buzz with activity.
Local guitar duo and regular performers at the market The Dollar Bombers
provided live music throughout the day and local kids club and sponsors of
the Handmade Market Grow Happy Childcare provided craft activities for the
kids.  *

*Katherine Brookes from MWL Events who are the organisers of the Handmade
Market was thrilled when she got the news late last year that the civic
hall was to remain in use for events and quickly booked in her dates for
2015.  "Subject to TMBC approval we hope to run a total of 9 handmade
markets this year in Stalybridge and these will be on the 3rd Saturday of
each month with the exception of August and December" said Katherine. "Now
the first one of the year is done our aim is to secure approval for April &
May before the next market on the 21st March."  "The impending introduction
of a Market Policy is the reason for the delay but we are hopeful TMBC will
work with us so we can carry on providing this popular community event in
the town".*

*Customers are also thrilled to see the return of this event and this was
evident in the feedback forms which were collected at Saturday's market.
"Great to see the Market Hall being used for local crafts!" *

*MWL events have chosen Willow Wood Hospice to be their charity this year
and raise funds by charging 50p admission into the market. "£350 was raised
on Saturday and we are grateful to everyone who came along and supported
the market and this great cause."*
*The market will return to the Civic Hall on the 21st March from 10am until
4pm.** For further details and announcements please visit
