Stalybridge Library hosts canal boat exhibition

The Wooden Canal Boat Society and Huddersfield Canal Society are holding a joint exhibition in the Stalybridge Library from  Monday 7th September for 4 weeks.
The two societies have played important roles in the history of Stalybridge.The Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through the town and the Wooden Canal Boat Society, at their Heritage Boatyard in Knowl Street, have renovated a 100yr old wooden narrow-boat to become a well-being boat for Tameside people in need of a relaxing time on the local canals.
Lilith, another of their heritage wooden narrowboats, was the first boat to carry a load through the newly opened Stanedge tunnel some years ago after it's restoration and the restoration of the canal through Stalybridge town centre.
