A  Veterinary Practice has opened the  at The Old Library, on Wyre Street, Mossley.

The building has undergone an extensive renovation to transform it into a state-of-the-art facility.

The McConnell Veterinary practice first opened its first practice in Top Mossley in 2000 with just a handful of staff.

But the new growing business now employs 18 staff including five veterinary surgeons, two registered veterinary nurses and four student nurses.

They have now moved to the new surgery, which includes four vet and nurse consultation rooms, a surgical preparation suite, two operating theatres, a radiography theatre and an isolation unit.

It also includes separate seating areas for visitors with dogs and cats, separate kennel areas and a large reception.

In addition to the new Mossley site, the practice also runs a surgery in Uppermill, Oldham.

Mr McConnell was assisted in purchasing the new premises by John Morgan, from NatWest, who specialises in supporting businesses within the healthcare sector.

The veterinarian secured two loans through the bank for the purchase and refurbishment of the surgery.

He said: “John has been a presence throughout the project.

“He understood the project and what we wanted to do, and offered excellent support along the way.”

Mr Morgan said: “I was delighted to support the practice with its purchase and development of a new surgery in Mossley.

“It is a great local business offering a high standard of service and I wish the business every success for the future.”
