The Arts and Learning centre "The Vale" which opens this summer is in the running for £1,000 funding towards its community cinema programme.
"Watch This" cinema will host regular day time and evening and screenings for audiences of all ages, including feature films, docmentaries and family friendly movies.
There will be family learning days which will give parents and young children the chance to enjoy creative and educational activities before the screening of a classic children’s films. Evening screenings will be accompanied by workshops and discussions, based on the themes of the films.
Leon Patel from arts charity Global Grooves, one of The Vale’s partner organisations, said: “We want to get our audiences really involved with the films they watch.
“Laughter workshops would be a great warm up for a comedy screening. Animal mask-making and sessions building awareness of endangered species would enhance a showing of Jungle Book.
“We want our pre- and post-film sessions to boost parents’ confidence to get creative with their children and make all of our audiences really think about what they are watching.”
The new arts and learning centre is due to open in Vale Mill, Micklehurst Road, Mossley in summer 2015.
Aswell as a high-spec cinema facility, the centre also have studio space, flexible desk-space for local freelancers, an IT suite and artists workspaces.
