Despite furious objections from local residents Tesco have been granted planning permission to open a delivery depot at its extra store in Hattersley. Deliveries will be limited to no more than two visits between 11pm and 6pm. Opening hours were previously restrcted to 6am to 11pm at the store.

Residents told a planning commitee that thye 24 hour opening would generate extra noise and make their lives a misery, however councillors went with the recommendations of planning officers after they were told that the drivers must switch off engines and refrigeration units ,bleepers, radios and tannoy systems would be turned off.
