Tameside Council are introducing a loyalty card to help increase business for local shops.
The idea has been instigated by Stalybridge and DUKINFIELD Councillor Claire Reynolds, the scheme will involve local shoppers collecting points when they purchase something from participating stores and businesses "the idea is for a Tameside wide scheme that all towns and villages in the borough can sign up to, there is a big appetite for something like this in the small business community. People will be able to cash in their points in exchange for tickets for events or activities"
The latest scheme is one of a number of measures being put forward to help small businesses and keep people shopping local on Tameside's high streets. Other ideas include reducing business rates and offering six months rates holidays to entrepreneurs taking over local shops.
Kieran Quinn Tameside Council leader said "we want to bring in new ideas to help local businesses and keep our high streets vibrant".
