Tameside Council leader Kieren Quinn announced that the Old Ashton Swimming Baths are to be transformed into "state of the art digital start up units for new technology and digital firms."
The plans were announced at Tameside Council's full council meeting and will be part funded by European Union cash. The swimming baths were originally opened in 1870 and were at one time one of the largets municipal baths in Euorope.The baths have given generations of Tameside residents a place to exercise. The baths were closed in 1970 and are a grade 2 listed building, the pool has since been filled in.
