A new App called Mobile Alarm Protection is being tested in Tameside.Using GPS technology the App allows the mobile phone user to alert police to their precise location if they come under attack. It is so accurate it can even locate a mobile phone in a busy shopping centre. Police believe it could help prevent serious crime and at the same time liberate some victims who have been afraid to leave their homes. Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Sir Peter fahy said "its about greater protection for victims".
