Tameside Christmas Market is back again this year with 10 days of festive fun.
This years events will run from Friday 11 to Sunday 20 December in Ashton town centre with stalls, entertainment, Great2Skate synthetic ice rink, Santa’s grotto, food, a bar and children’s rides and characters.
There will be brass bands, dance troops, choirs, schools and community groups from across Tameside will be headlining the daily live performances on stage.
It will be held on one site in Market Street behind Ashton Market Hall to keep all the stalls and entertainment together enabling the Christmas Market to run separately to the ongoing works to refurbish and revitalise the market ground.
The market opening on Friday 11 December will tie in with the Tameside Christmas Celebration event in Old Cross Street Car Park, Ashton, from 5-8.30pm. This will involve a range of on stage entertainment including songs from the hugely successful Frozen, featuring Princess Elsa, Anna and Olaf. There will be a selection of Christmas carols by the Ashton Band to get everyone in a festive mood as well as guest appearances from Peppa Pig and Father Christmas.
Peppa will also be available to meet children as will one of Santa's special helpers, an Elf, who will be giving away crafted balloons to all the children. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will also be joining in the fun.
The entertainment will continue every day until Sunday December 20. 23 stalls will be selling a variety of beautiful gifts, crafts, treats as well as delicious food and drinks.
