As part of the on-going Vision Tameside transformation, Ashton Town Hall has closed its doors until its reopening in summer 2016. This will allow work to separate the grade II-listed building from the Tameside Administrative Centre.
The Tameside Administrative Centre will be replaced by a new state-of-the-art building, which will used by Tameside Metroplitan Borough Council, Tameside College and a new retail store. The new building will smaller than its predecessor, but will be more energy efficient and cost effective.
During the closure of the Town hall all local authority meetings, including the full council meetings, will be held at Dukinfield Town Hall.
