Walking football tournament at Stalybridge Celtic

The recent Walking Football Stalybridge Tournament at Stalybridge Celtic’s ground was a well organised occasion thanks to the efforts of Mike Smith, Celtic’s Community Development Officer.
 
Teams from Macclesfield, Manchester , Rochdale , Tranmere and Vintage Celtic took part in the Walking Football Stalybridge Tournament.
 
The 8 teams that competed in the Walking Football Stalybridge Tournament consisted of 6 players per side with and each lasted 8 minutes.
 
Vintage Celtic started the Walking Football Stalybridge Tournament with a 2-0 victory over MCFC Cityzens. Their second game resulted in a 0-1 loss to the eventual winners MCFC Blue Moon Walkers. Tranmere Rovers A were the next opponents and they were dispatched 2-0.
 
A  Rochdale Stroke Active team were then beaten 2-0, followed by another 1-0 victory in a close fought contest against an excellent Macclesfield Town. The final 2 games resulted in a disappointing 0-0 draw with Tranmere Rovers B and a 2-0 victory against another strong Rochdale team Rochdale Strollers.
 
Hopefully the Walking Football Stalybridge Tournament will become an annual event.
