Massive delays and road closures are expected when the Tour de France hits Longendale and the Woodhead pass on July 6th as over 45,000 spectators are expected on race day.
There will be shuttle buses to take people to and from the event and people can walk along the six mile stretch of the Longendale trail that leads from Hadfield to Woodhead to view the event. Organisers are pleading with people to check their fitness if they decide to walk to the vantage points to see the event
Their will be detailed information regarding road closures nearer the time but the following main routes will definetly be closed:
A6024 Holme Moss Road
B6105 Woodhead road Glossop both closed on Friday July 4th.
A57/628 Mottram Moor Road closed eastbound from Stalybridge Road July 6th.
A628 New Old Road Tintwistle closed July 6th after midnight.
A57 closed at Woolybridge on July 6th.
New road Tintwistle closed at the junction with A628 closed July 6th.
One way system will operate in Glossop on Sunday July 6th.
