After the recent bad weather causing postponements it was back to a full compliment of fixtures for Tameside's rugby teams.
Aldwinian's winning run continued with a 26-13 points victory over Hawcoat park.They took the upperhand from the off going into a 12-0 lead within 8 minutes, however as the game progressed Hawcoat Park came back into the game and pushed the Aldwinians defence hard. The Audenshaw side soaked up the pressure and counter attacked which resulted in them increasing their lead to 19-0 at the 32 minute mark.
In the second half Hawcoat clawed their way back into the game with some excellent attacking rugby and managed to narrow the scoreline to 19-13. Aldwinians hung on and had a late attacking surge which saw them convert a penalty after a collapsed scrum leaaving the final score 26-13. Scorers for Aldwinians were Andy Coxhill with one try and three conversions, Ben Marsland and Mike Moreland scored one try apiece.
Ashton Rugby Club lost by one point going down 17-18 to Thornton Cleveleys in a thrilling hard fought contest. In the first half Ashton were unable to convert their chances missing a couple of penalty conversions. The second half saw Ashton up the tempo in this fierce battle which resulted in them taking the lead and as the game entered it's final phase Ashton found themselves in the lead by the narrowest of margins, Thornton Cleveleys managed to snatch victory right at the death. This was an absorbing game of rugby which Ashton didn't deserve to lose. DUKINFIELD rugby club went down 49-3 to Liverpool Collegiate.
