Tameside football round up March 29th


Hyde were unlucky not to pick up a point in the Skrill Premier, Stalybridge Celtic and Droylsden both lost but there were wins for high flying  Ashton United and title chasing Curzon Ashton and a creditable 2-2 draw for Mossley in an exciting days football for Tameside's teams.

Hyde Fc lost 1-0 and were desperately unlucky not to pick up at least a point away at Aldershot,  despite dominating the game for long periods.

Stalybridge Celtic went down 2-0 away at North Ferriby United and are slipping into the relegation zone in the Skrill North.

Ashton United grabbed three more Evostick Northern Premier promotion play off points with a 2-0 away win at Stocksbridge Steels. After a goaless first half the Robins scored twice in the second through Mark Pilkington and Matt Chadwick. The leagues bottom club Droylsden put up a great performance at the Butcher's arms and were unlucky to lose 4-3 in a thrilling game against highflying Worksop Town.

In the Evostick First Division North Curzon collected three more points on the road beating Kendall 3-0 with goals from Niall Cummins (2) and Ryan Brooke. Curzon need just five points from seven games to lift the title. In the same division Mossley earned a deserved draw at home to high flying Warrington town, a last minute equaliser from John Bennett saw the game end in a 2-2 draw, the Lilywhites other goal was scored by Brian Mathews.
