Tameside Football round up February 22nd


Tameside's result of the day (above) was Curzon Ashton's 5-1 away to fellow title chasers Warrington Town.

The result puts them a point clear with 3 games in hand.

Hyde FC gained a point at home to Aldershot Town in the Skrill Premier  drawing 2-2, lifting the Tigers points total to 9. Hyde goalscorers were Adam Blakeman and Jordan Clark.

Stalybridge Celtic came away with a point at home to Brackley Town courtesy of a Brackley own goal. The result ends a run of defeats in the Skrill Conference North for Celtic.

In the Evostick Premier Ashton United lost to Worksop Town for the second time this season going down 3-2 away. The result is a setback for Ashton's promotion hopes, Dale Johnson and Jason Gorton scored for the Robins. Droylsden's miserable season in the Evostick Premier continued with a 4-0 drubbing away at Marine.

As mentioned earlier pride of Tameside goes to Curzon who go back to the top of the Evostick Division 1 North after beating Warrington Town 5-1 away. Warrington allowed spectators to" pay what you want" at the gate after the original fixture was abandoned. Ryan Brooke scored a hatrick for the Blues, with one goal apiece from Nial Cummins and Matthew Warburton. Mossley played a friendly against FC Halifax at Seel Park and held thier own in a 1-0 victory for Halifax.
