Tameside football round up April 5th

Plenty of goals in games involving Tamesides teams, Curzon score 6, 14 goals in Droylsdens game, unfortunately 13 going to Chorley, 5 goal thriller involving Hyde FC, Stalybridge draw and Ashton United lose at home.

Hyde FC narrowly lost 3-2 away at Chester in a thrilling game. Chester went three goals up but Hyde fought back with two second half goals by Adam Blakeman. Hyde piled on the pressure late on in the game and nearly equalised, they were unlucky to end the game on the losing side.

Stalybridge Celtic drew 1-1 in the Skrill North with Oxford City, Paul ennis scoring for Celtic.

Ashton United saw their promotion chances take a knock in the Evostick Northern premier losing 3-1 at home to Ilkeston FC. After a recent run of excellent results Droylsden were looking forward to their trip to Chorley. Unfortunately the game proved a disaster with Droylsden recording their heaviest defeat in their 122 year old history going down 13-1. The only consolation for the Bloods was Sam Madeley's stunning free kick, which was the goal of the match.

Curzon Ashton put one hand on the Evostick First division North Trophy by beating Prescot Cables 6-0 at the Tameside stadium. Curzon were in blistering form with two goals from Nial Cummins and goals from Ryan Brooke, Matthe Warburton, Jordan Wright and Christopher Rowney. Surely next saturday Curzon will be champions!
