April 'o' Brien, from Stalybridge, made her Dodgeball debut for England and helped them to victory in the Six Nations Tournament which was held at the Belle Vue leisure Centre in Manchester.
April went to Bucktonvale Primary School, Copley High school and Ashton Sixth Form College. she played netball in her school days and represented Tameside County. When she went to Derby University to study computer game design, she thought she would try out Dodgeball. She said " there were so many sports on offer , I thought as I was in a new place I would try something new. In this sport you have to dodge and focus and catch the other team out, it's a great feeling when you win."
Even though April only took up the sport three years ago she has become one of the best counter-attacking players in the womens game and she said " I felt so proud to wear the England shirt and win a trophy for my country ".
