Paul Scholes Manchester united legend, pictured here with Celtic striker Louis Smith, stepped in to help Stalybridge after manager Jim Harvey left the club.

Stalybridge Celtic managed to keep the presence of Scholes a secret until Junior Team manager Rob Gorski thanked Paul Scholes on the club's website.

It was a magical week for 17 year old striker Louis Smith a lifelong United fan. He said "It was unreal, he's a childhood idol the first we knew was when we turned up for training on monday morning and there he was. It was a shock and a surprise at the same time. I've learnt so much from him, even in just a week,to get help from someone like him is invaluable you can't put a price on that. It was a great gesture of him to come down and do it for free". Scholes said that he'd watched Oldham recently and thought that many of the Celtic players were technically the equal of Oldham.

Paul has since returned to his youth coaching role at Manchester United leaving Stalybridge with a massive confidence boost.
