Active Tameside has been named as the first recipient of the Refer-all Foundation, receiving a three-year exercise referral software licence worth £6,000.
Announced on Tuesday 30th September at Leisure Industry Week (LIW) 2014, Active Tameside, a leisure trust which manages nine centres in the Tameside area, will also receive set up, support, training and regular software updates, access to a dedicated account manager and the Refer-all team of experts, who will assist them to guide their programme.
Refer-all, which specialises in software solutions to enhance the efficiency of exercise referrals from GP to leisure provider, launched the Foundation earlier this year as an altruistic venture with a vision to provide the tools for organisations to help people to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Commenting on their award, Mark Tweedie, Chief Executive of Active Tameside, said: “The Refer-all Foundation is an amazing opportunity for us to bring a brand new programme on board at Active Tameside. The new exercise on referral programme will be the first of its kind in Greater Manchester. By using the technology supplied by Refer-all we can develop communication with GPs and clinicians and track the data properly to ensure that the programme works effectively and efficiently.”
Stuart Stokes, Commercial Director at Refer-all, explained: “All the applications underwent a rigorous scoring system by a team of experts, including a blind review. Active Tameside were an outstanding candidate. They had clear aims and ideas about how we, as a company, could help them achieve these. Despite the fact it is a new service for them, they also had a clear understanding of the challenges involved and had a real desire to strive for great success with their programme. In addition, they are forward thinking and really keen to embrace technology to assist them with their goals. For example, they want to look at integration with tracking devices. We are really looking forward to working with them to help them achieve both their and their patients’ goals.”
Refer-all provides a fast and efficient referral pathway for their Exercise on Referral schemes from GPs via an online form. The referral from the GP appears instantly on the leisure provider’s dashboard, from where they can use Refer-all’s software solution to move the patient through their service, setting target dates and recording actions completed against the referral, such as contacting the patient and booking appointments, for example, via a task bar. The integrated system also provides the leisure provider with information about where the referrals come from.
Refer-all is currently working with 17 leisure providers to power 60 lifestyle services that, to date, have seen more than 48,000 referrals.
