Curzon Ashton were crowned champions of the Evostick First Division North in a record breaking season, the first title as a semi-proffesional club. They have won 17 of their 19 away games so far this season and have had a run of 10 consecutive clean sheets during the current campaign.
The home game to fellow title rivals Warrington Town saw them crowned champions and the visitors formed a guard of honour as Curzon came onto the pitch at the Tameside Stadium.
Curzon were intent on enjoying the Championship party and made a positive start to the game when Sam Walker scored after 7 minutes from a curling free kick. Warrington replied with an equaliser after being awarded a penalty, but Chris Young added a second for the Nash putting them into a 2-1 half time lead.
Unfortunately the second half didn't go Curzon's way as Warrington scored 2 goals and ran out 3-2 winners. The result still didn't spoil the party after the game and everyone celebrated collecting the thoroughly deserved First Division North Evostick Trophy.
