Tameside based Sala Futsal u16s Boys & u16s Girls are through to the National Finals

The Boys who are reigning National Champions 2022 made another step forward to retaining their title as they booked their place in the finals with only 48 hours notice..

 

The team were originally eliminated from the tournament in the Northern Regional finals comming second. 

They then got a message on Thursday night ( 15th).inviting them back in with two ither teams due to a few teams having to drop out. So as a late wildcard and with no preparation the boys turned it around with their second bite of the prize.

 

The u16s girls were also Victorious after winning their group and also go through to the finals.

 

 

This National competition is the Futsal version of the FA Youth Football Cup. 

 

During the 2022/23 season local County FA's have run local qualifying rounds with winners from each FA moving onto one of 4 Regional finals events, with the Regional winners moving onto the National Finals at Wolverhampton University on the 8th/9th July.

 

Both 16s Sala Futsal teams are joined at the finals in zJuly by the Sala u12s Girls team who won the northern regional finals on the 28th May

 

This year the u12s girls hope they can go one better and win the competition after being National runners up in 2022.

 

Sala Head Coach Neil Lucas said:

" The boys and girls teams  have been working really hard all season for this and with 3 teams again in the funaks ( a repeat of 2022) We hope to get more than one national winner this year"

 

 

Sala run weekly training sessions in Tameside & Gorton as well as run trams that play in local leagues and competitions
