Ashton united were worthy winners in the Evo-Stik Northern premier Tameside Derby against Hyde United at Hurst cross.

Dale Johnson was suspended for the Robins whilst Hyde were without Scott Spencer.

The Tigers started brightly enough and had a few chances during the early encounters. However, as the first half progressd Ashton United put increasing pressure on the Tigers goal and were rewarded when Cavell Coo was tripped in the area and the refree pointed to the spot. The penalty was converted by Carl Gee and put the Robins 1-0 ahead at half time.

At half time Hyde's manager was sent from the dugout and the beginning of the second phase saw the game entering a scrappy phase.

On 72 minutes Mark Pilkington burst through the Tigers defence after receiving the ball from Stephen Mason and rifled the ball past Sam Vince in the Hyde goal. Matty Chadwick added to the scoreline with four minutes to go and the Robins recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory.
