Denton Cricket club travelled to Woodhouses last weekend in what turned out to be an enthralling game.

Woodhouses batted first and got off to a flying start before James Hawley took the first wicket on 34. Wickets continued to fall  before a spirited 10th wicket partnership of 26 between Dean and Hague pushed the final score up 89 all out. Dean being one of 3 batsmen to finish on 17. The Denton bowling effort was spearheaded by Andy Neill and James Hawley, with figures of 2-32 off 22 and 5-54 off 21 respectively.

The Denton innings got off to a poor start, with both Allen and Garde gone with the score on less than 10. A middle order partnership of 23 between Saleem and Taylor steadied the ship and with 5 wickets down Denton required 21 more runs. A late wobble threatened Denton's chances as wickets fell around Leech at the non strikers end, leaving number 11 Stringer to waddle out with the team 3 behind. He managed to block out the end of the over however, and all worries went out the window in the next over as Leech hit the 4 that was required to win the game from the 2nd ball.
