The government's official guide on renting that every tenant must have received from their landlord or letting agent has been updated for the first time.
In October last year, new legislation came into effect making it a legal requirement in England for landlords and letting agents to hand tenants an up-to-date version of the 'How To Rent' guide put together by the government at least 28 days prior to the beginning of the tenancy, alongside other documents. Otherwise, landlords and letting agents will not be able to apply for any section 21 notices should this become necessary in the future.
The 'How to Rent' guide has now received its first update in January to incorporate new legislation, including the introduction of 'Right to Rent' in England.
The government have also recently published an update of the "Model Tenancy Agreement".
