Saddle up for a charity cycle for all abilities with the Willow Wood Mini Manc Bike Ride.
Tameside's Willow Wood Hospice is working alongside the Tour De Manc to offer the family friendly and short distance alternative so that everyone can get involved.
It takes place on Sunday 7 July from 10am at Tameside Cycle Circuit, Richmond Street, Ashton, OL7 9HG.
There are four professionally organised routes:
1-8km on a flat cycle track, ideal for young or inexperienced cyclists who can choose their distance on the day. From £5 to take part.
16km, mainly country lanes and quieter roads if you cycle for fun and fitness. From £5 to take part.
32km, more of a challenge, incorporating some testing hills. £15 to take part.
48 km, some significant inclines for those with stamina. £15 to take part.
The Tour de Manc itself, sponsored and supported by Tameside Council, takes place on the 5 May with the 104 mile long route travelling through all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. With over 9,000ft of climbing to complete, it's the ultimate challenge.
Tour de Manc is a charitable sportive - run 100% by volunteers, using cycling as a force for good to raise significant funds for registered charities.
For 2019, Tour de Manc has chosen as its lead charities: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital; Booth Centre, a Greater Manchester charity providing a day centre for the homeless; and HaTS, an independent charity which supports the patients and the families of the Haematology and Transplant unit located in Manchester's Christie Hospital. Riders also have the opportunity to ride for charities of their choice.
Tameside Council's sustainable travel officer, Michael Hughes, said: "We're delighted to support this fantastic event, which offers something for everyone to get involved in and will have a wonderful atmosphere. As well as raising significant funds for good causes, cycling is a great way of getting fitter and healthier and a sustainable way to travel."
A Willow Wood spokesperson said: "We're proud to once more partner with Tour de Manc to provide the very best cycling experience for our supporters. There are four routes so whether you cycle for fun or fitness or like a real challenge, there'll be one that's right for you. And while the distances are shorter, the routes incorporate some significant hills to test stamina. All routes will be well signed and there will be a mechanic out on the roads for minor repairs. Come rain or shine, saddle up for what will be a great event."
