Crowds gathered across Tameside  to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.

Veterans, cadets and serving soldiers, sailors and airmen were joined by dignitaries at war memorials across the borough to stand in silence and lay wreaths.

There were memorial services outside Ashton town hall as well as at Audenshaw, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield, Hyde, Mossley, Mottram and Stalybridge.

The mayor, Councillor Dawson Lane, said: “We remember those who fought for our freedom during the two world wars and those who have lost their lives in more recent conflicts.”
