Princess Elsa from Frozen will be opening the synthetic ice rink on 2 December at Tameside's Christmas Market and is one of the many highlights of the festive fair, on 2 December.
The Chrsitmas market, to be held in Ashton town centre, will officially open on Saturday 29 November and will run until 21 December with 30 traditional wooden cabin stalls, a ferris wheel, family entertainment, special events and much more.
Opening celebrations will continue on Sunday 30 November with a beautiful, winter wonderland lantern parade, carol singing and rousing brass band performances before a spectacular fireworks display.
Following the huge success of last year’s Christmas market, which attracted thousands of visitors, the event has this time been extended to run for three weeks from 10am to 7pm and will occupy a larger site on both sides of Ashton Market Hall.
Local people, traders, schools and community organisations are being encouraged to get involved as much as possible – from hiring stalls to performing on stage and taking part in the lantern parade. There will be a series of lantern making workshops where families will be able to come along, make a lantern and register to take part in the parade
