A team of experts from an independant watchdog have been brought in to improve Tameside Hospital.
The Government sponsored health sector regulator has taken action because the foundation trust is "clinically and financlally unstustainable in it's current form". The new plans will see the Hospital become an integrated Care Organisation and is the first time a Foundation Trust has taken on the scheme which gets health and social services working together.
Francis Shattock Monitor's regional director said "Tameside Hospital is facing seroius challenges with providing acceptable levels of care for patients".
