Free lantern making workshops in Tameside

There are a number of free lantern making workshops being held in Tameside for those wishing to take part in this years Winter Wonderland Lantern Parade.



Last year’s lantern parade proved to be a dazzling and diverse community celebration with more than 1500 people taking part and this year it aims to be even more spectacular.

The event will take place during the opening weekend of Tameside Christmas Market with the parade starting at 5pm on Sunday 30 November and finishing in Ashton Town Centre with a fabulous firework display.

Tameside Christmas Market opens on 29 Nov and runs until 21 December with 30 traditional cabin stalls, family enteratinment, a ferris wheel and a synthetic skating rink.

The lantern making workshops will run as follows:

Saturday 15 November 1-3pm Portland Basin

Sunday 16 November 11am-1pm Portland Basin

Saturday 22 November 1-3pm Stamford Park, Highfield Pavilion Community Room

Sunday 23 November 11am-1pm Stamford Park, Highfield Pavilion Community Room
