CHEAPER parking tariffs are being introduced in Tameside town centres in time for Christmas but will also benefit shoppers and trade year-round.
The newly reduced charges, the lowest Council tariff for long stay parking in Greater Manchester and also one of the cheapest for short-stay town centre parking, will be in operation from Friday (21 November).
Tameside Council has reduced the costs after listening to feedback from businesses and residents to make the borough's even more attractive and affordable for shoppers and support the local economy.
Under the new tariff, parking in zone 1-4 Council owned car parks will be just £1 for up to three hours and just £2 for all day. The cost of up to 30 minutes will remain the same at 50p. All other Council car parks not within zone 1-4 already charge cheaper rates.
