Tameside Hospital has recruited extra staff to cope with increased demand over Christmas and new year.
Twenty additional members of staff, including in administration and diagnostics, have been appointed by the hospital. And some of those will be staying on in the new year in full-time roles.
Chief executive Karen James said
“We know that we are likely to be busy at this time of year so we have invested in additional staff.
We are trying to make sure we invest more in diagnostics so that we can diagnose people quicker.
“And we have recruited more admin staff.
“We have 20 additional staff and some will stay on a permanent basis.”
The temporary roles, to cover an increased need for care over the colder winter months, will continue until April.
