Low traffic cycling neighbourhood planned for Tameside

Greater Manchester’s ten Boroughs are to have 55 miles of protected cycling routes and over 140 crossings as part of Mayor Andy Burnham and Olympian Chris Boardman’s plans for an £85 cycling scheme, Bee Network.

The project, will be funded by the Mayor’s Challenge Fund. It is hoped the first Bee Network Signage will be completed later next year. The Tameside active neighbourhood phase one scheme will be completed during the process. There will be filtered neighbourhoods which will prioritise people over cars including an increase of traffic free routes and better access for bikes on major roads. Tameside active neighbourhood phase two scheme, improvements will create an attractive safer environment for all those that cycle.
