From a health point of view, anyone who starts to feel poorly - even with just a cough or a cold - can get help from a pharmacist. Pharmacists are skilled healthcare professionals and appointments aren’t necessary. Here’s a list of Christmas and New Year opening times for local pharmacies.
If you do need quick medical help for a non-life threatening situation, or you’re not sure of the best place to receive advice and treatment, you can call NHS 111 where an adviser will assess you and direct you to the best place. Please remember that A&E is only for serious and life-threatening injuries and illnesses. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 999.
In the event of a white Christmas, there’s useful information and guidance on snow and adverse weather conditions on the following Council webpages: Be prepared for Winter, Tameside Winter Pledge and Winter gritting.
