Families, individuals and community groups are being invited to help us light up the darker months ahead by getting involved in the spectacular Tameside lantern parade.
Building on the success of the 2013 and 2014 parades, the popular Tameside Council Cultural Services event will be returning again this year with plans to be even bigger and better.
New for the 2016 parade, the Council will be working with the internationally recognised and respected Handmade Parade to create a stunning and super-sized event on Saturday the 12 November.
The aim is to bring Tameside’s diverse communities together to showcase how ‘We Shine Brighter Together’.
Cultural Services are looking to involve people right across the borough, representing all of Tameside’s nine towns. There will be opportunities to work with professional artists to create large scale illuminated lantern sculptures and more traditional hand carried lanterns.
All of the lantern making workshops will take place in September and October in readiness for the parade in November.
The parade also includes lots of music and community bands - any groups that interested in playing in the parade can email Tameside Cultural Services at the address provided above. Finally any groups that would like to walk in the parade - but not make lanterns or play in band – are also encouraged to take part but please register via the details
