Active Tameside are looking to break records with ‘Tameside’s Biggest Workout’ in celebration of National Fitness Day and the first European Week of Sport.
On Saturday 12th September Active Tameside will be taking over Stamford Park with 3 free exercise classes for all the family. The classes will begin at 10am with Les Mills GRIT followed by Zumba at 11am and a family circuit class at 12pm.
the events are also being supported by Tesco Extra in Hattersley who are donated refreshments for the day.
Active Heroes Dynamic Dan, Elegant Ella, Zooming Zain, Adventure Ava and Mighty Mike will be there on the day spurring everyone on get active.
It is also the first ever European Week of Sport which promotes sport and physical activity across Europe. The Week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level, focuing on grassroots initiatives, it is hoped that it will encourage everyone to be active on a regular basis and create opportunities to exercise more.
Mark Tweedie of actibve tameside said said: “Both National Fitness Day and European Week of Sport really embody what we are trying to do every day which is encourage people from all over Tameside to get active in whatever ways they can.
“With both falling on the same week it has been a great opportunity to engage as many people as possible and get families involved to show how you can be active together. It should be a really fun day where the community can come together in a lovely local space and learn more about the many different ways they can stay healthy.”
