Second Generation Furnishings open second shop in Ashton

Registered charity Second Generation Furnishings have opened a second shop in Old Street Ashton-under-Lyne
Second Generation furnishings are a group of local people who set up a company in Stalybridge to collect and re-use good quality furniture, white goods and other household items that might otherwise have gone to landfill. They collect suitable items free of charge from the community and clean, repair and safety check them before selling them on at a low price to people who cannot afford to pay the market price, aiming to assist anyone in need of help turning a house into a home, helping local people in the community on low incomes and reducing landfill in Tameside.
They collect all household goods that can be re-used, re-cycled and re-distributed to help families turn their houses into homes and help them sustain their tenancy.
Members of Second Generation all live in Tameside and wanted to do something to help  families living in houses or flats without furniture, and after seeing day after day good furniture going to waste, decided to do something about it.
