Tameside Civic Mayor Vincent Ricci pulled out all the stops to help raise an amazing £5342 for local charities at his Valentine Ball.
He surprised guests by performing two dazzling dances a quick step and a jive with dance partner Melissa Hayward during the evening.
The mayor, already an accomplished Latin American and Ballroom dancer, had spent several weeks practicing the routines in secret ready for the big night, held at Dukinfield Town Hall on 12 February.
He said:
" I love dancing and just wanted to do something a bit special and different and thank everyone who has come along to support the event and donate so generously to the charity appeal fund. The support from the room was amazing and I think everyone had a good time."
All proceeds were donated to the Mayor@s Charity Appeal Fund, which is dedicated to helping good causes close to his heart including Tameside 4 Good, Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Tameside, Friends of Tameside Young Carers,
the Harebell Suite at Tameside Hospital, Macmillan Cancer Support, Parkinson's UK and Willow Wood Hospice.
The evening included a drinks reception, formal dinner and dancing to the highly acclaimed Debonaires swing dance band.
