Tameside’s young artistic talent will soon be on show at the Central Art Gallery in Ashton.
The annual primary and secondary schools exhibitions have been merged and the result is “Colourful Tameside” which has filled the entire display space at the Old Street venue with a full display of artworks from students aged four to eighteen.
The 16 participating schools have displayed works in many artforms ranging from sculptures, to paintings and photography. Some contributors have been influenced by Tameside's rugged scenery while others have drawn inspiration from famous artists.
A spokesman for the exhibition said "This exhibition is a wonderful way of recognising and inspiring youngsters’ artistic abilities. We have been very impressed by the standard of the entries which have come together as an appealing and vibrant display for all to enjoy."
The exhibition opens at the Ashton art gallery on Thursday, March 5, when the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Dawson Lane, will perform the opening ceremony at 4pm. It closes on April 25.
