Poplar Street Primary School in audenshaw unveiled a mural to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War as well as its own centenary on Armistice day.

Artist Lee Mennell took inspiration from pupils’ work on the subject of the First World War to create the poppy-themed mural.

The event was attended by around 60 people including parents, former pupils and Audenshaw councillor Maria Bailey.

Pupils also read out poems they had written about the experiences faced by those sent to fight for their country 100 years ago.
