Comedian Les Dennis becomes Patron of Hyde Theatre Royal

Les Dennis TV star and comedian has become patron of the grade 2 listed Hyde Theatre Royal. The theatre was closed in 1992 but the Theatre Royal Onward Group has been fighting to preserve the building and reopen it.

The group said it was fantastic news that that Les had become the patron and shown support and this was a massive boost for the campaign. the theatre opened in 1902 and has hosted many performances in it's illustrious history. Chairman of the group John Gray said it is hoped that the building can become a community events centre and Les's support helps tremendously to raise the profile.
