Tameside has been recognised as the top area in the North West for Arts Award involvement.
Trinity College London’s quarterly report shows Tameside's cultural services team engaged 4,181 youngsters in the 12 months from April, 2014.
Arts Award, which embraces all interests and backgrounds, is a unique qualification which helps people aged 25 and under develop their artistic abilities. By taking part they are able to develop their creativity, leadership and communication skills. Learning to work independently helps them to prepare for further education and employment.
Tameside Cultural Services have offered a wide variety of Arts Award topics to fit in with all teaching programmes including Healthy Tameside, BBC Ten Pieces, First World War centenary, poetry and the Battle of Waterloo.
A spokesman for Tameside Council said:
“Arts Award is a fantastic programme and a great way of getting youngsters to develop an interest in the arts. Having done so well over the last year or two, I’m counting on the team to do even better in the future.”
