Submissions are now open for the Tameside Open Art Exhibition, which takes place at Tameside Central Art Gallery in Ashton. It has been running for more than 20 years and is unique in that any Tameside resident can submit work that might be displayed in a professional gallery setting.
Rachel Cornes, Museums Manager said “The Tameside Open Art Exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for artists of all abilities to see their work exhibited in an established gallery.
“The exhibition is always a very popular event and each year the skill and imagination displayed in many of the entries always impresses us. Paintings range from traditional watercolours to more abstract oils and cover a variety of subjects. There are also photographs and examples of mixed media work.
Opportunities like this are very rare indeed and that’s why we really want as many local artists as possible, whether they are amateur or professional, to send us their work so we can exhibit with pride the considerable artistic talents that we know so many Tamesiders possess.”
Tameside's assistant executive member for culture Jackie Lane, said: “I’m very proud of the fact that Tameside Open Art is open to everyone in the borough. It’s gives people of all abilities to see their work properly exhibited in our main gallery.”
Submissions run from Tuesday 30 June until Saturday 4 July and those wishing to submit work for consideration in the exhibition can download an application form from the galleries webpage or pick one up at the gallery during opening hours.
Those submitting their work for consideration must be Tameside residents and most of the work within the exhibition is for sale at reasonable prices
