Tameside Council is looking to build a 420 place primary school and 56 place nursery school on land off Porlock Avenue in Hattersley.

The consultation document for the building of the new school states that " demand for school places in the Hyde area has dramatically increased and has been managed so far by the creation of bulge classes at Godley and St.Pauls primary schools and by providing additional forms of entry at Flowery Field Primary school. "

The building of the new new school is part of the £8.6m allocated by the government to increase the number of school places in the borough, another proposed school is planned on the Old Stamford High school site in Ashton-Under-Lyne.
