TAMESIDE libraries are now offering e-books, e-audio books and digital magazine downloads.

These new services are free and available around the clock. All you need is a library membership number and pin.

Library members can download the latest editions of 39 popular magazines including National Geographic Interactive, Ideal Home, and Popular Science. They can be viewed on smartphones, tablets or desk-top computers and kept indefinitely. Back issues can also be accessed.

More than 900 free e-book and e-audio books are also available.

They range from thrillers to self-help manuals, children’s and teenage books to biographies. New e-books are constantly being added and members are welcome to suggest titles they would like to see added to the collection.

It’s possible to borrow up to five e-books for seven or 21 days. At the end of the loan period they are automatically “returned” so there is no need to worry about fines.

The move to e-books and digital magazines comes in response to the increasing number of inquiries for e-books and digital magazines.

These new services will be especially useful for members who find it difficult to visit a library and for visually impaired members.
