The £33 million pound redevelopment of Ashton bus station will see a transport hub being formed in the centre of Ashton with the bus station connected to the Metrolink stop and the newly redesigned train station.
The work will be part of the Greater Manchester Growth deal which involves a multi million pound investment partnership programme between Greater Manchester and national government supporting economic growth.
Tameside Council leader Kieran Quinn said "it's geat news for everyone in Tameside and means we are at the forefront of the key regional infrastructure projects earmarked as part of the Greater Manchester Growth deal". The deal will create 5,000 jobs in Greater Manchester and will turn Ashton into a major transport interchange.
