HOUSEHOLDS are being urged by Tameside Council to manage their waste over Christmas by checking when their bins are due to be collected and keeping up good recycling habits.
There will be NO collections on Boxing Day (Monday 26 December). Residents due a green bin collection on this day are asked to put it out on Tuesday 27 December and those due a black or blue bin collection are asked to put it out on Wednesday 28 December.
Additionally, there will be NO brown bin collections between Christmas and New Year (week beginning 26 December).
All other bin collections will run as normal and normal collection scehdules will resume from Monday 2 January.
Residents are being urged recycle as much waste as possible to help manage the extra waste created over Christmas.
Here are some tips to keep waste to a minimum over the holidays:
Recycle real Christmas trees by leaving out with the brown bin in the new year for free collection
Use the brown bins for food waste
Use the blue bins for all the extra paper, card and drinks cartons
Use the black bin for all the extra glass, cans, tin foil and plastic bottles
Leave additional cardboard/paper out with the blue bin on collection day. Please ensure loose paper is secured in a clear or labelled bag.
Please park considerately so we can get a bin wagon down the street
The household recycling centres at Bayley Street and Ash Road are open every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day 8am-6pm.
